“Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.” (1 John 4:18 NLT)
4:18 – If we are ever afraid of the future, eternity, or God’s judgment, we can remind ourselves of God’s love. We know that He loves us perfectly (Romans 8:38, 39). We can resolve our fears by, firstly focusing on His immeasurable love for us, and thereafter by allowing Him to love others through us. His love will silence your fears and give you confidence.
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38 – 39 NLT)
8:38 – Powers that are unseen forces of evil in the universe, forces like Satan and his fallen angels (see Ephesians 6:12). In Christ we are super-conquerors, and His love will protect us from all such forces. (Tyndale Study Bible)
There are a few things which come to mind when I ponder this portion of scripture. God is a God of grace and his love is unconditional. He loves everyone… And I mean everyone!
On the way to Church every Sunday, I see the same woman begging. She has gone backwards in the past while. It is obvious that she has some form of addiction. However, she was not born like that. She made some wrong choices in her life. We all face various choices in life and the biggest trick is to make the right ones, even though it’s not always easy.
What is amazing to me is that the Bible teaches us that God cares for that lady at the robot more than myself, because she is lost. He left all his sheep to go and rescue the lost one. I get jealous, why her? He loves everyone, even her.
So through the love of God that shines through us, it is our job to help and guide those people as we are God’s shepherds. You see, that’s our task as Christians; to encourage and guide people before they reach that point in their lives. There is a plan for all of us. God tells us to base our choices on His plan and through His guidance.
Just like in the work place, we have choices whether to do our work diligently or not.
So let’s do it as though we are going to shine for God, because we are. Show people that His love burns and shines through us.
Love and Shine
