“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” (Psalms 139:23 – 24 NLT)
139:23, 24 h David asked God to search for sin and point it out to him to the level of testing his own thoughts. This is exploratory surgery for sin. How are we to recognize sin unless God points it out to us? Then, when God shows us, we can repent and be forgiven. It is q good idea to make this verse your prayer. If you ask the Lord to search your heart and thoughts with you and to reveal your sin to you, you will continue on “the path of everlasting life.”(Tyndale Study Bible)
In these verses we see David asking God to help and guide him through daily activities, both good and bad. This is what we as Christians should do more of. More often than not we only seek God when we are in need. As much as we need, we should give thanks to God, too.
That is one thing the non-believer will never understand – why Christians have that absolute inner-peace. It’s because all the worries of the world we lay at feet of God. He is a God of Grace and favour. You can trust Him with everything. Everything is possible with God.
I feel I need to say this; last evening a friend of mine was sharing that his father has been fighting lung Cancer. My obvious question was “how long”. It’s been 4 years. My immediate thought was, “Wow, one should never give up.” Miracles through God do happen. When I shared with him that, that is what my Faith teaches me, he looked “spaced out”. The seed was planted. Who’s going to water it?
I have a bad habit of awaking at 3am and then can’t sleep again. About 8 months ago I got the advice that when it happens, meditate on a piece of scripture. You can’t believe how well it works, I fall straight back asleep. The most amazing thing for me is that the more I practice it the better it works. This is just one of the many things that work and add to that inner-peace.
So to all you unbelievers, all you really need is God. It’s that simple. To the believers stay in the Word. When in doubt turn, to God.
