“Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.” (Matthew 24:35 NLT)
Remember a few years ago when a tsunami hit the Thailand area? This Christmas it seems many people forgot about that. Life goes on. People remember it, but seems to hold no real significance in their lives. Yet Jesus was born over 2000 years ago, but it is still a huge event to this day.
Further, Matthew wrote this gospel between 65 – 80 AD and it took him 15 years to write. Nothing worthwhile just happens, it takes time.
What is interesting is that in 64 AD Rome was burnt to the ground. And in 70 AD Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans. You see, in this time they where waging a war. Matthew kept writing through it all. So much adversity. All these things happen but Jesus’s birth stood the test of time.
What got me thinking about this was the fact that on Boxing Day, Cape Town was hit by a 5m swell which caused lots of devastation. The following day, it was over and people went about business as usual.
Over the years there have been many such events. The following day the sun comes up. God’s creation will overcome everything. And His Word will be forever.
“Lord, I pray that the world will be exposed to Your Word. May I play my part in spreading the Word and good news. I thank you for motivating people to capture your Word. In Jesus name I pray. Amen”
