All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. ” (John 3: 20 – 21NLT)
Many people don’t want their lives exposed to God’s light because they are afraid of what will be revealed. They don’t want to be changed. Don’t be surprised when these same people are threatened by your desire to obey God and do what is right, because they are afraid that the light in you may expose some of the darkness in their lives. Rather than giving in to discouragement, keep praying that they will come to see how much better it is to live in light than in darkness.(Tyndal Study Bible)
Have you heard this before: “I can’t come to church because I have to first sort out my life”? Or: “I can’t come to church because my wife won’t join me”. “I can’t come to church because I have no support of my family.”… “I can’t come to church because all they want is my money.”
All people fear condemnation and being judged. The other thing they fear is being exposed or being put on the spot. They might have to tell their worst sins and fears.
As Christians what we tend to do is do all the above boldly and even praying in and for groups. Why, because we are filled with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit makes us do things boldly. Can you image the fear of the unbeliever when they see this? They think I don’t want to be put on the spot. Fear of being exposed is huge, that why its difficult for them to take the step.
Following on from yesterday, as believers we should guide people in the process and show that it’s not a scary decision or step to take. We have to impart with our wisdom of God and His Word. God will give us the courage and wisdom to do this. Secondly, we have to shine for God and show people the how to move from darkness to light. Be in such a way that all are in awe off what you have.
“Lord, I thank you for Your light. May I and all believers shine in such a way that we entice them to the light in Your way. In Jesus name I pray. Amen”
