“O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.” (Psalms 63:1 NLT)
Hiding from his enemies in the barren wilderness of Judah, David was extremely lonely. He longed for a friend whom he could trust to heal his loneliness. No wonder he cried out, “O God, . . . My soul thirsts for You in this parched and weary land!” If you are lonely or thirsty for something to last in your life, remember David’s prayer. God alone can satisfy our deepest longings.(Tyndale Study Bible)
I have asked this before, have you called out to God at some or other point? I am sure you have. Something that seems common among all of us is that often we feel as though the more disciplined we are spiritually or want to be, the more we seem to fail. That is because of one reason: we are tempted more often because the enemy is aware of this, and the devil thus targets you by laying traps. He would like to steal your salvation, but he can’t.
The next challenge is the condemnation we feel because of our own failures… We should never feel this way.
Let me use this as example: divorce is on the increase. But why? The traditional family unit is the strength, and that’s why the enemy always seeks ways to destroy it. All these modern influences such as pornography, low moral values, lack of church in society, internet, and many more. If couples and family armor themselves with the Word, they will be protected. This is the reason we should thirst for God.
Have you ever felt judged? Just remember God is a God of Grace… He forgives.
What works for me is to stay in the Word. Read and meditate on the Bible to quench your thirst daily.
Writing this cleanses me and keeps me accountable to do the right thing as often as possible as I can’t write these words and not act upon them.
Don’t only seek His solution in life’s major aspects, but also in the daily, small things. He has a solution for all things and only He is the true fulfillment.
Seek Him in everything you do.
