Peace and prosperity

Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭14‬ NLT)

The readers were familiar with the ceremonial cleansing ritual that prepared them for worship, and they knew that they had to be holy or clean in order to enter the Temple. Sin always blocks our vision of God; so if we want to see God, we must renounce sin and obey him (see Psalm 24:3, 4). Holiness is coupled with living in peace. A right relationship with God leads to right relationships with fellow believers. Although we will not always feel loving toward all other believers, we must pursue peace as we become more Christlike. (Tyndale Study Bible)

Just as I said yesterday, peace is the key. If you were to ask anybody what they desire, they will almost always answer “happiness”. It will never be achieved if you have not found peace, which we heard is achieved by believing and having faith.

Again, what amazes me is how these scriptures follow.

Once you have tasted peace, you will endeavor to live a Holy life as the scriptures describe. Why? Because sin followed by guilt and condemnation keeps us from God. In other words, the more you sin, the less at peace you are. Do your best to lead a sinless holy life to be more at peace. The more we strive for this, the more at peace we will be.

Next, you will notice how your attitude towards people changes. You will care for all people. Have you heard this: peace and prosperity? The one follows the other. Not  always the prosperity of the world, but the riches of heaven. Do we need more?

“Dear Lord, I thank you for the peace in me. I pray that you will keep me from the influences of the world. Guide me and give me strength. In Jesus name. Amen”
