The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. (John 1:9 NLT)
We, like John the Baptist, are not the source of God’s light; we merely reflect that light. Jesus Christ is the true Light; he helps us see our way to God and shows us how to walk along that way. But Christ has chosen to reflect his light through his followers to an unbelieving world, perhaps because unbelievers are not able to bear the full blazing glory of his light firsthand. The word witness indicates our role as reflectors of Christ’s light. We are never to present ourselves as the light to others, but are always to point them to Christ, the Light.
The world cannot recognize the true light even when it encounters its Creator. The world lives in rebellion, loving darkness more than light.
I am sure you will know what I am talking about when I say. That guy just radiates energy. You meet somebody and they just stands out above the crowd. Then there’s that person that keeps to themselves, but there is just something about them, there is an energy. Then you meet someone who says a lot but means nothing. You know that person?
Now the amazing thing when I started going to Church I met so many of these shining people. The ones that don’t say much but stand out. Who would you rather be? I had a chat to client this afternoon and they made the comment that other believes always try to claim these good traits and behaviors. What these believes don’t realize, it’s been captured in the Bible for many years before and practiced for many years. All solutions are just there in the Bible.
I think of work again. We all strive to be recognized and followed, it’s a basic human need. Think about this “Be that light the scripture is talking about, better still, reflect that light.” Be that person, and do your work as an example of God. Do this all to the Glory off God. How many people would aspire to be like you? Many I say.
” Lord I pray that I be your light. Fix my faults that I will be Holy, Pure and Humble. I thank you Jesus. In Jesus name I pray. Amen”
