God’s Word

So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. (‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬ NLT)

James advises us to get rid of all that is wrong in our lives and “humbly accept” the salvation message we have received, because it alone can save us.

It is important to listen to what God’s Word says, but it is much more important to obey it and do what it says. We can measure the effectiveness of our Bible study time by the effect it has on our behavior and attitude. Do you put into action what you have studied?

In church yesterday, Pastor Aidan was speaking about people looking after themselves in world, focussing on worldly things rather than their soul. We often put it aside and think we’ll get to it at a later stage.  Let’s focus on the good stuff like cars, toys etc. None of these things bring permanent satisfaction – it’s only temporary and your soul will still be empty.

Have you ever done  wrong? Yes is the answer . Do we still do wrong? Yes, I know I do daily. What are the effects? I feel bad and I feel frustrated because of it. Many times this will even lead to depression. Living to the world’s expectation will cause all these things. That little voice talking to you is the Holy Spirit. What is that? Many people call it their conscience. If  you don’t do anything wrong  your conscience won’t bother you. Are you there? I am certainly not. We all have that little niggle in the back of our mind.

Read the scripture again. Fill yourself with the word. God’s word that is, the Bible. Yes we all think we are above a book. That’s what I thought until I saw the light. I plead with you to take the time to consider the Word of God, the Bible.

Read the 2nd paragraph again. We all want to do the right thing, the Bible has all the answers. You see this is the secret, because now you are looking after your soul. This will bring lasting happiness.

“Lord I pray that you rid me off all year temptation. May I be an example to all around me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. “
