“Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.”
1 John 4:11-12 NLT
If no one has ever seen God, how can we ever know him? John in his Gospel said, “The unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us” (John 1:18). Jesus is the complete expression of God in human form, and he has revealed God to us. When we love one another, the invisible God reveals himself to others through us, and his love is made complete.
Some people simply enjoy being with others. They make friends with strangers easily and are always surrounded by friends. Other people are shy or reserved. They have a few friends, but are frequently uncomfortable talking with people they don’t know or mingling in crowds. Shy people don’t need to become extroverts in order to love others. John isn’t telling us how many people to love, but how much to love the people we already know. Our job is to love faithfully the people God has given us to love, whether there are two or two hundred of them. If God sees that we are ready to love others, he will bring them to us. No matter how shy we are, we don’t need to be afraid of the love commandment. God provides us the strength to do what he asks.
Just this morning I was in a meeting. We where discussing sales techniques. You see , it’s not always what you say, it’s the intensity you say it with. If you are trying to reach someone, you can’t be half dead yourself. You have to be super enthusiastic about your message. You have a very short while to grab a client’s attention.
So think about selling the good news of God?in the same way. People are skeptical about it, so you have to be more precise and energetic. My experience has taught me that you really have to be on your game. You do however have an unfair advantage, you have God on your side. All you have to do is your part. Why does God give us that advantage? Because He loves us.
So just like the scripture says, because He loves us we are to love others. Doing that, God will live in you. Not only will you say the right thing, you will do the right thing as well. Just put your trust in God. With God and the power of the Holy Spirit you can love and reach others, even if you are shy.
Just as the commentator says above, you don’t need to change. You stay as you are. It takes all kinds to make our world. So there is a person out there you can love and influence. Don’t stress, God will bring them to you.
Give God a chance to live in you.
“Lord I pray to love others. I thank you for Your for the love. In Jesus name. Amen.”
