This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. (Hebrews 4:15 NLT)
Jesus is like us because he experienced a full range of temptations throughout his life as a human being. We can be comforted knowing that Jesus faced temptation—he can sympathize with us. We can be encouraged knowing that Jesus faced temptation without giving in to sin. He shows us that we do not have to sin when facing the seductive lure of temptation. Jesus is the only perfect human being who has ever lived.
Prayer is our approach to God, and we are to come “boldly.” Some Christians approach God meekly with heads hung low, afraid to ask him to meet their needs. Others pray flippantly, giving little thought to what they say. Come with reverence because he is your King. But also come with bold assurance because he is your Friend and Counselor.(Tyndale Study Bible)
We are all tempted by sin. By the worldly desires. You see we are never alone in all of this. Right from the beginning of time humans were faced with these challenges. God became tired of our sinful ways. That’s why Jesus came to this world.
Firstly to show us you can live without sin. Even if you are tempted. Jesus was tempted many times, while on earth. He was the perfect human being. Secondly to die for our sins. He is our salvation.
I struggle continuously. I fall horribly short of the Glory of God. Yet I don’t stop trying. Daily I try to be perfect just like Jesus was.
The day we stop trying is the day we fail.
“Lord I pray that you will guide me to be perfect like you. Please forgive my shortcomings. I pray for strength, love and humbleness. I Jesus name. Amen.”
