“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.”
Jude 1:20-21 NLT
“And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.”
Jude 1:22-23 NLT
To “keep yourselves safe in God’s love” means to live close to God and his people, not listening to false teachers who would try to pull you away from him (John 15:9-10).
Bringing people to Jesus saves them from God’s judgment. We can do this through compassion and kindness. We are to hate the sin, but we must witness to and love the sinner. Unbelievers, no matter how successful they seem by worldly standards, are lost and in need of salvation. We should not take witnessing lightly—it is a matter of life and death.
In trying to find common ground with those to whom we witness, we must be careful not to fall into the quicksand of compromise. When reaching out to others, we must be sure that our own footing is safe and secure. Be careful not to become so much like non-Christians that no one can tell who you are or what you believe. Influence them for Christ—don’t allow them to influence you to sin! (Tyndall Study Bible)
The foundation of our Faith is based, on this greatest commandment: “Love the Lord with all your heart.” Second to this spoken by Jesus in Mathew 22:36-40 is, “Love your neighbour as you love yourself.”
Yes, I can hear you say, How can I love the Taxi driver? Just there is the true test. We are to be the example and shining light. That driver must think wow that guy is different. True Love, is the key. I can tell from my experiences not always easy. The goal is to improve daily and build good habits.
Here is the Question, how can you build somebody without love? In my opinion, love is the most critical ingredient here. You can never reach out to people without love. If you read the scripture carefully, you will hear that we are mandated to build each other. We are to be there for others when they are in need. So we need to love unconditionally to achieve this.
It gets me back to that shining light. We as individuals have to stand out. We have to be different so that people can take note and pay attention to use. That difference is not the same for all. It’s different for every individual. The challenge, of course, is, how do we as individuals improve all the time? Continuous improvement, so that we can touch people out there.
“Lord I pray you give me people to touch. May I improve daily to fulfill my mandate. In Jesus name. Amen.”
