“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”
1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT
Paul says that because of the resurrection, nothing we do is useless. Sometimes we become apathetic about serving the Lord or hesitate to do good because we don’t see any results. Knowing that Christ has won the ultimate victory should affect the way we live right now. Don’t let discouragement over an apparent lack of results keep you from doing the work of the Lord enthusiastically as you have opportunity, knowing that your work will have eternal results. (Tyndal Study Bible)
In the world today, everything is instant. We all seek instant gratification. We all have deadlines to meet. If we meet these deadlines gratification follows. These are instant. With God, it’s not always the same. The reward does not follow immediately. In some cases it does, but mostly it takes time. God wishes to test your obedience and perseverance.
Firstly we are reminded by the commentator that walking with God promises lasting results, eternal life in heaven. So everything we do is rewarded. I know it’s not something you can touch and feel.
Secondly, we are rewarded in the form of Blessings. Which come in different forms, sometimes it’s not money it’s just inner peace. Sitting outside on the patio, a glorious morning, and meditating on God’s word, what a blessing. My daughter passed her final year of school, a blessing. Some people in the world don’t get the opportunity of going to school. We just take it for granted. So many blessings, take the time to consider them.
One of the richest Blessings is God’s word, the Bible. All we need for daily inspiration. Read the scripture again.
* Be strong and immovable
* Work enthusiastically.
* Nothing you do is useless.
All this we must do for the Lord. Remember what scripture said a couple of days ago, “work willingly as to Glorify God.” (Col 3;23) Nothing we do will go unseen.
“Work enthusiastically for the Lord.”
“Lord my prayer is for me to be for You only. Amen.”
