“Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Christians must obey the law of love, which supersedes both religious and civil laws. How easy it is to excuse our indifference to others merely because we have no legal obligation to help them, and even to justify harming them if our actions are technically legal! But Jesus does not leave loopholes in the law of love. Whenever love demands it, we are to go beyond human legal requirements and imitate the God of love. See James 2:8-9; 4:11 and 1 Peter 2:16-17 for more about this law of love.
What a place to be and write about love.
How horribly do we fail as humans? Well, I failed today, and this piece of scripture is there to remind me. I am not sure we like being reminded. It’s not up to us, this is the way God works.
Remember the greatest commandment ” Love the Lord your God with all your heart.” Second to this and as important ” Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” The commentary above is so genuine and refreshing. ” Whenever love demands it, we are to go beyond human legal requirements and imitate the God of love.”
I am asking myself this question when last have you gone this far in love? What strikes me is how often we take our family and loved ones for granted. To change this bad habit is not easy. We just have to keep on trying. How many times a day do we go out of our way to impress our Boss or peers? What have you done lately to impress God? Please don’t forget I am speaking to myself as well. We even make a concerted effort from time to time to impress our peers. Why don’t we always do that at home?
So here’s the thing spread the love, most importantly to your loved ones. Why, because God commanded us.
I am going to leave you with these words from Paul.
“Love does no wrong to others.”
“Lord make my heart soft to Love. In Jesus name. Amen.”
