Serve

“just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭20:28‬ ‭NIV‬‬
A “ransom” was the price paid to release a slave from bondage. Jesus often told his disciples that he must die, but here he told them why—to redeem all people from the bondage of sin and death. The disciples thought that as long as Jesus was alive, he could save them. But Jesus revealed that only his death would save them and the world.
These words come to my mind, Holy, Humble and Pure. The words come to mind when I think of Jesus. Let me quote from our study material, at Bible School, a description of Jesus. He lived an absolute Holy life. He was motivated by Genuine love. His conduct was truly humble. He was Gentle and meek. He lived a life of prayer and was a hard worker. (CLT) Wow, can you and I ever be like that?

I remember from scripture. The disciples ask Jesus, who was the greatest among them. (Luke and Mathew) Jesus was very specific with His answer, “he who serves most.”

All our lives we seek to please and seek recognition from people around us. Seek God’s attention in all you do rather than people. I was listening to Ken Davis on the radio yesterday. He was talking about the choices we have in life. He referred to teenagers, how they seek recognition of their peers rather than seeking God in the things they do. Just think off all the mistakes teenagers make. Would they and we make the mistake if we follow the principles above? It could be seen as a price, what a small price to pay.

We don’t need to die to redeem our sins, Jesus did that for us, all we need to do is believe. No price just faith. So I ask, please believe the rewards are enormous.

“Lord give me a serving nature. Help me in my walk to be like Jesus. Amen.”
