” Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”
John 14:21 NLT
Sometimes people wish they knew the future so they could prepare for it. God has chosen not to give us this knowledge. He alone knows what will happen, but he tells us all we need to know to prepare for the future. When we live by his standards, he will not leave us; he will come to us, he will be in us, and he will show himself to us. God knows what will happen and because he will be with us through it all, we need not fear. We don’t have to know the future to have faith in God; we have to have faith in God to be secure about the future.
Jesus said that his followers show their love for him by obeying him. Love is more than lovely words; it is commitment and conduct. If you love Christ, then prove it by obeying what he says in his Word. (Tyndale Study Bible)
Have you ever met somebody that claims to be an atheist? Funny to me even the Devil acknowledges that there is a God. Far more mystical and powerful than us humans. When you question them about right and wrong, they refer to a moral obligation. That moral obligation is the Holy Spirit at work in the life of the believer. What they, the unbeliever, don’t understand, that it’s the Holy Spirit working in them. I always wonder how one can believe in nothing?
At law school, I was taught that those moral principles, in the Bible, were written into law over time. Think about society today, prostitution for example. In early times, there were no laws against it. Then laws were draughted against it. Today because of moral degradation, those laws are abolished in some countries.
You see, all these things change, morals and laws. What does not alter is the commands and principles in the Bible. Which God established thousands of years ago still applies today. Never modified by man. Take a moment to read the scripture again. Ponder on it for a moment. If you obey them, the commands, we are promised the Love of God. When we obey them, we express or love towards Jesus. The challenge is we have to obey them all. Not just those that suit us. I consider my position. I still fail daily in obedience to the commands. I improve on a daily basis. I am accountable to only God and nobody else.
But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
Revelation 3:16 NLT
Read this carefully, do you think God is going to shower us with his Love and blessing if we obey halfheartedly. Personally, I believe that we are going to left out in the cold. Consider your position? If you obey, these commands Jesus promises, that He will reveal himself to you. Wow, what a privilege. I want more of that.
“Lord, I pray for Peace, I pray for obedience and Your love. In Jesus name. Amen.”
