Holy Spirit

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””
‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.”
Acts 1:8 MSG
The “power” believers receive from the Holy Spirit includes courage, boldness, confidence, insight, ability, and authority. The disciples would need all these gifts to fulfil their mission. If you believe in Jesus Christ, you can experience the power of the Holy Spirit in your life.
Jesus had instructed his disciples to witness to people of all nations about him (Matthew 28:19-20). But they were told to wait first for the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49). God has important work for you to do for him, but you must do it by the power of the Holy Spirit. We often like to get on with the job, even if it means running ahead of God. But waiting is sometimes part of God’s plan. Are you waiting and listening for God’s complete instructions, or are you running ahead of his plans? We need God’s timing and power to be truly effective. (Tyndal Study Bible)
There are a couple of important instructions here. Timing and witnessing the Good News of Jesus. In other words spreading the news of the Gospel. Spreading the news, that the power of the Holy Spirit is available to all. Telling the world, that Jesus loves them. What we must not forget as believers we are instructed to be disciples for God.
Pay attention to the comments above that the Holy Spirit delivers courage, boldness, confidence, insight, ability, and authority. Yes just like it says above you need all these talents to deliver the message of Jesus. Think of this for a minute, the message of Jesus, birthed in Jerusalem. It started with the 12 Disciples; now it is known to millions all over the world. Please don’t get complacent, many millions in the World have not heard the message. As Christians, we have a daunting task to fulfil. I know we can’t all go around the world and spread the Gospel, my question is does everybody in your work environment know about Jesus.? You see, you can make a difference.
Rushing into things like a chicken with a head chopped is not always the best things. God will reveal his plan for you in His time. It might be sooner or then it might take some time. Just be patient. “We need God’s timing and power to be truly effective.” I can’t say it any better.
“Lord I pray for word from You so that I can spread the Gospel and be effective for You. Connect me with the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
