“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”
1 Peter 3:15 NIV
Some Christians believe that faith is a personal matter that should be kept to oneself. It is true that we shouldn’t be boisterous or obnoxious in sharing our faith, but we should always be ready to give an answer, gently and respectfully, when asked about our faith, our lifestyle, or our Christian perspective. Can others see your hope in Christ? Are you prepared to tell them what Christ has done in your life? (Tyndal Study Bible)
The words Holy Humble and Pure come to mind. Before I got saved I was a Righteous, self-centered arrogant idiot. A fool in short. I have changed yes, yet don’t think that old does not surface from time to time. Yes, we all fall short of the Glory of God.
Holy, Humble and pure, these are the words I strive to live by. Please note, I strive to. Nobody is perfect only God.
My second thought is we all are taught to conform to the world. From a young age, we taught in school and through society to adhere and conform to things of the world. Even at home, we are told certain things are just not done. I am not talking about breaking the law. Consider a certain thing like bed time. Nothing says we can’t sleep during the day and wake at night. You get my point. What happens when we don’t conform to the world. Yes, people talk, they even have derogatory comments. You get my point.
From early days, Christians have been persecuted, they even jailed and killed for their faith. Scripture says that you have to take a stance. We don’t need to be arrogant and boisterous about it. When asked and needed we should be able to testify our faith. Our behaviour and actions should also testify it. Scripture says we are to do this with gentleness and respect.
“Lord give the strength and conviction to testify of You. Amen.”
