no4 – Pray without ceasing

Posted: September 28, 2016 in Inspiration
“So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Sometimes we wonder how to pray for missionaries and other leaders we have never met. Paul had never met the Colossians, but he faithfully prayed for them. His prayers teach us how to pray for others, whether we know them or not. We can request that they (1) understand God’s will, (2) gain spiritual wisdom, (3) honor and please God, (4) produce every kind of good fruit, (5) learn to know God better and better, (6) be strengthened with God’s glorious power, (7) have great endurance and patience, (8) be filled with joy, and (9) give thanks always. All believers have these same basic needs. When you don’t know how to pray for someone, use Paul’s prayer pattern for the Colossians.(Tyndall Study Bible)
Remember when I started this it was ten Bible verses that guide you how to love. Remember the words we have begun with, Humble and Haughtiness.
In MATTHEW 18:15-35, The Parable of Forgiveness Peter asked Jesus how many time you should forgive someone that sins against you. In those days the rule was seven times. The teaching of Jesus was that your forgiveness of your brother should be unlimited. The real meaning is “seven times itself, seventy times,” which would be an infinite number per day.
Many of us have a past, or did something in the past that will follow you for life. It can be various things an addiction or in same cases time spent in Jail. Financial ruin through the wrong decision. Remember what we said before you only fail when you give up. So the trick is never to give up.
Forgiveness is essential amongst us, however? God paid the price for our sins by sacrificing his son Jesus. He forgave us, because of his unconditional love for us. That is why the Bible speaks of a forgiving spirit. We need to have a forgiving spirit, to expect forgiveness. Remember these words aren’t mine, God and His Word, the Bible, inspires these words.
Read the Scripture; we have Prayer ourselves and Prayer from others to guide and give us strength in this walk. We should not lean on our understanding but rely solely on the strength and guidance from God.
God gave us the Holy Spirit to assist us. It’s through Prayer that we will receive answers. Don’t forget to pray for others where you see fault or where guidance is necessary. The essence of this scripture is that Paul is saying never give up Praying for others. There is the “Love,” just there.
“Lord, may I Love others so that I can forgive and Pray for them. In Jesus name, Amen.”
