Control your temper, for anger labels you a fool. (Ecclesiastes 7:9 NLT)
Wise people do not fly off the handle in anger. “People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness” . Because anger can cloud judgment, it is vitally important for the wise to reflect on their actions before responding.
Although Proverbs comments on anger only in a negative light, Scripture overall does not portray all anger as bad. Many Psalms express anger (e.g., Ps 77), and Jesus demonstrated anger as he threw the money changers out of the Temple.Though it is often hard to tell the two apart, people must learn to distinguish righteous anger from unrighteous anger. Unrighteous anger is only concerned to protect or promote oneself ,whereas righteous anger reflects God’s hatred of evil and love of justice. The wise person reads the circumstances and discerns whether and to what degree to express anger.(Tyndal Study Bible)
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. (James 1:19 NLT)
When we talk too much and listen too little, we communicate to others that we think our ideas are much more important than theirs. James wisely advises us to reverse this process. Put a mental stopwatch on your conversations, and keep track of how much you talk and how much you listen. When people talk with you, do they feel that their viewpoints and ideas have value?(Tyndal Study Bible)
Wow, what a week! First “humble yourself”, second “Seductive attractions”, thirdly “Pride” and then “Take a stand.”
Humble yourself always, don’t get caught in the attractions of the world. Don’t let your pride lead you astray. Take a stand for God and what you believe in.
This morning Anger. What amazes me, some people actually think that there is no truth and promise in God and the Bible, really? Read the above passages carefully.
Even if you don’t believe just apply these principles, where would you find yourself then?
I am blown away at the wisdom expressed in the Bible.
Listen and don’t get angry, you will loose.
Apply and WIN
“Lord, I pray to apply these wisdoms. Amen.”
