“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. (Leviticus 19:18 NLT)
“Do not . . .” Some people think the Bible is nothing but a book of don’ts. But Jesus neatly summarized all these rules when he said to love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself. He called these the greatest commandments (or rules) of all (Matthew 22:34-40). By carrying out Jesus’ simple commands, we find ourselves following all of God’s other laws as well.(Tyndale Study Bible)
Can you imagine the world without laws and rules?
I see the rules of the Bible as principles. If the world applied these rules, we would have no issues. Crime won’t excite. A perfect world. We all know that it would never happen.
God promised us heaven if we believe…. “That perfect world.” So I think applying these old rules would make us more complete and closer to heavenly creatures. When we achieve that, we can be examples to the world. We can be an inspiration and influence to our the worlds.
The most important rule the writer says, Love God with all your heart and love your neighbour as you would love yourself.
I never thought that I would ever have compassion and love for a beggar. Well, I do. It is this Love and peace we receive when believing, that we should share.
“Dear Lord I pray that you fill me with love so that I can influence the world. I pray that I will shine for you. In Jesus name. Amen.”
