A Blessing

But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name! (‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬ NLT)
It is not shameful to suffer for being a Christian. When Peter and John were persecuted for preaching the Good News, they rejoiced because such persecution was a mark of God’s approval of their work (Acts 5:41). Don’t seek out suffering, and don’t try to avoid it. Instead, keep on doing what is right whether or not it brings suffering.
Have you ever thought of persecution as a blessing, as something worth rejoicing about? This beating suffered by Peter and John was the first time any of the apostles had been physically abused for their faith. These men knew how Jesus had suffered, and they praised God that he had allowed them to be persecuted like their Lord. If you are mocked or persecuted for your faith, it isn’t because you’re doing something wrong, but because God has counted you “worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus.” ( Tyndal Study Bible)
I have a good friend. Yes, I do have friends. What’s more, apart from my blood family I have brothers and sisters in Christ. In a meeting with Dr  Rodney, the bond amongst Christians is unbelievable. Why was I wondering? We are singing off the same song sheet the Bible. In other words, we are on the same page.
I am sure you have felt persecution before, I certainly have. Back in the time of Peter and John people were jailed, beaten and even killed for their faith.  That happens today still, just recently in the news. What I do know is when people persecute or criticise you, there is something bothering them. They feel threatened by your faith. The Holy Spirit is doing a work in them, and they don’t like it. Listen to this “Judge you based on what’s going on in their own hearts”
You see this friend of mine has been to Church with me but has not committed. God works mysteriously, though. Many of his other friends are being saved recently. I pray for him everyday. God is getting closer and closer. The other day they went away for the weekend, and there was a Pastor in their company the whole weekend. Amazing, like I said God works in mysterious ways. I know God has his number.  The day will come. Continuously remind your friends of the fact that God has their number.
I know we all don’t have the same confidence as the next person. Please remember this although you might feel persecuted, declare your faith boldly. Tell people about the Good News. Remember God will take note of your efforts. And remember practice makes perfect.
“God I pray, for all that feel persecuted. Let them rather dress with the Holy Spirit and declare You boldly. In Jesus name, I pray
