He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. (Ephesians 1:7 NLT)
To speak of Jesus’ blood was an important first-century way of speaking of Christ’s death. His death points to two wonderful truths—redemption and forgiveness. Redemption was the price paid to gain freedom for a slave. Through his death, Jesus paid the price to release us from slavery to sin. Forgiveness was granted in Old Testament times on the basis of the shedding of animals’ blood. Now we are forgiven on the basis of the shedding of Jesus’ blood—he died as the perfect and final sacrifice
God showered his kindness on us—this is also called God’s “grace.” This is his voluntary and loving favor given to those he saves. We can’t earn salvation, nor do we deserve it. No religious, intellectual, or moral effort can gain it, because it comes only from God’s mercy and love. Without God’s grace, no person can be saved. To receive it, we must acknowledge that we cannot save ourselves, that only God can save us, and that our only way to receive this loving favour is through faith in Christ. (Tyndal Study Bible)
It’s so easy. All we need to do is declare that Jesus died for our sins – the ultimate sacrifice by God. Do this, and you are a Christian. We will receive a couple of things Eternal life and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Why is there so much resistance to this? My answer is simply because it is that easy.
Think of this for a minute: all people are generally good or want to be good. Yes, we all fail, but we do try to be and do good. How many people do you know that you would say “now that’s a good man”? Most the people I know you can say that about. I am sure it’s the same for you. Now my question is why don’t people just accept Jesus as their saviour? Because really what do they have to lose? Most people are doing the right things anyway or at least trying to. So taking this step of faith will guarantee eternal life. They are following good principles anyway so just tweak them a touch, to fall in line with Biblical principles because there is not much difference. There is so much to gain from doing this. The ultimate is eternal life. My experience is that the peace you receive is incredible. Not easy to explain, the trick is to experience it first hand.
So I ask you why the resistance? You have nothing to lose.
“Lord, I pray that you will help me break the resistance to change in people. God show them the rewards. Holy Spirit work in them. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen”
