Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. (1 Chronicles 16:8 NLT)
Four elements of true thanksgiving are found in this song (psalm): (1) remembering what God has done, (2) telling others about it, (3) showing God’s glory to others, and (4) offering gifts of self, time, and resources. If you are truly thankful, your life will show it. (Tyndal Study Bible)
It makes me think of when we are in our darkest hour we call on God. When faced with danger or bad experience, we call on God. I was watching a movie, and the actor was faced with a challenge of finance and his friend said to him just have Faith. His friend was implying that he should rely on God. What struck me was that he was sceptical. As to say right that won’t happen to me.
Our destiny is not in our hands; we have to rely on God. All we have to do is make the right choices and live like the Book of Proverbs says.
In this movie, he comes across a case of money in a public bathroom and obviously thinks that this is a gift of God. What he does do however he takes it to the police and hands it to them. Why, because the money is not his. Know that’s the right thing to do.
What does happen though is the press find out about his plight and the fact that he handed the money back? They publish a story, and people’s hearts goes out to him. He receives thousand of letters and money donations. Why because he did the right thing.
This a classic example of doing the right thing. Watch this video clip
All one can do watching this is to give thanks. Remember what the young boy did. He was selfless gave up a prize possession and look at the result. If we are grateful will the small things and give thanks. Let our actions show the gratitude. And when we get the rewards tell the world.
“Lord I pray for a grateful approach. I give thanks to You God in everything I do. Guide me Lord to do the right thing. In Jesus name. Amen.”
