“If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.”
1 Corinthians 13:2 NLT
In chapter 12, Paul gave evidence of the Corinthians’ lack of love in the utilization of spiritual gifts; Chapter 13 defines real love, and Chapter 14 shows how love works. Love is more important than all the spiritual gifts exercised in the church body. Great faith, acts of dedication or sacrifice, and miracle-working power produce very little without love. Love makes our actions and gifts useful. Although people have different gifts, love is available to everyone. (Tyndal Study Bible)
What a fitting way to start the day, what is God plan for us. The key element in everything we do is “Love.”
The Bible commands us to Love the Lord our God with all our heart. Second, and as important to Love our neighbours as we Love ourselves. These two commands aren’t so easy to achieve. I know before I was born again, it was not part of my makeup.
What I do remember was when you receive something from someone with an evil heart, it’s like you don’t want it. Has that ever happened to you.? It’s like someone doing something for you with a bad heart. You want to say don’t bother. Yes, you know what I am talking off.
The Bible is very clear you can do many good things, but if you don’t do it with love, it means nothing. You will receive no recognition from God. I remember leading a Bible study group for street people and drug addicts, some infected with HIV. I would normally have done that but without compassion. I had no time for losers like that. God put them in my path because only when I started loving without condition, did the results follow. All the Glory to God.
Just as the scripture says without Love, we are nothing. We can apply this principle to our daily tasks as well. Results will follow: I can assure you.
“Lord I pray to love others unconditionally. In Jesus name. Amen.”
