My child, don’t reject the LORD’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the LORD corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. (Proverbs 3:11-12 NLT)
Discipline means “to teach and to train.” Discipline sounds negative to many people because some disciplinarians are not loving. God, however, is the source of all love. He doesn’t punish us because he enjoys inflicting pain but because he is deeply concerned about our development. He knows that in order to become morally strong and good, we must learn the difference between right and wrong. His loving discipline enables us to do that.
It’s difficult to know when God has been disciplining us until we look back on the situation later. Not every calamity comes directly from God, of course. But if we rebel against God and refuse to repent when God has identified some sin in our lives, he may use guilt, crises, or bad experiences to bring us back to him. Sometimes, however, difficult times come even when we have no flagrant sin. Then our response should be patience, integrity, and confidence that God will show us what to do.(Tyndale Study Bible)
“My Child don’t reject God.”
With a very heavy heart, I am writing this morning. I am not looking for sympathy. Because all is my own doing. You see everything in life we do has a consequence. You have to life with that for the rest of your life. You can only change the future, not the past. You have to live with those past events.
You see, I have said this before I write these for myself. I am not perfect and have made huge mistakes in the past, and will in the future. I have my personal struggles daily. My prayers at the end are my cry for strength, from God.
God forgives our sins, yet we are accountable in the end. You can’t just keep on doing wrong without consequence. Just like the scripture says you need to be disciplined. God does this because he loves us. It is very easy to fall back into sin. Top results in every aspect of your life do not come easy. It takes huge daily commitments and discipline. Just like losing weight is not easy.
So just like I said yesterday the Holy Spirit is there to guide and protect us. Don’t reject it like unbelievers do.
“God I pray this morning, You know my struggles and failures. Forgive me, Lord, for I have sinned. I pray that You and the Holy Spirit will guide and strengthen me to do the right thing. Cleanse me from sin so that I won’t be ashamed. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.”
