‘We love Him because He first loved us.’ – I John 4:19
God’s love is the source of all human love, and it spreads like fire. In loving his children, God kindles that flame in their hearts. In turn, they love others, who are warmed by God’s love through them. (Life Application Study Bible)
This is such a special time of the year. Spend time with family and friends. Family, in my opinion, is key. Healthy family life is the foundation of modern society. Don’t think I have it under control. I have a lot of repair work to do. The key is “love.””
Remember the word “love” is a verb. In other words a call to action. So yes, we must do the love.
God loved us first no matter who and what we are. No matter what we have done. He even love’s murderers. We do not need to become pure for Him to love us. The love in us is ignited by God’s love, just as a fire is ignited. Fires don’t light themselves; something always causes a fire. They usually spread rapidly and radiate much heat.
God’s love for us kindles that flame in our hearts, warming others around us. God’s love and the Holy Spirit guides us. People should see that fire burning in us.
How does this work in everyday life? When last have you impacted on somebody through love compassion and outreach? It does not necessarily have to be a stranger; it could be a loved one (family member). It could even be things and or your job. Do you look after them like you should do? Faithful over little ruler over much. A good place to start however is with your family. As fire consumes things, our love should consume and engulf them. So that they are changed, and they can see the change in your life. This approach should be seen in all facets of life.
Let’s go out and touch people.
Lord let the fire of love burn in me. I thank you for Your love. Let that love touch people. Amen.”
