Count the stars
Sometime later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.” 5 Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” – Genesis 15:1,5 NLT
Abram wasn’t promised wealth or fame; he already had that. Instead, God promised descendants like the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore (22:17), too numerous to count. To appreciate the vast number of stars scattered through the sky, you need to be, like Abram, away from any distractions. Or pick up a handful of sand and try to count the grains—it can’t be done! Just when Abram was despairing of ever having an heir, God promised descendants too numerous to imagine. God’s blessings are beyond our imaginations. (Life Applications Study Bible)
‘But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” – Mark 10:27 NKJV
Yesterday we I spoke about the revelation of this verse that this promise is ours know through Jesus Christ. I still struggle with it.
This is where faith comes in, yes you have heard it faith the size of a mustard seed will move mountains. I will spend some time on faith in the next day or so.
I was pondering on how to impact people in the world. Secondly, how to influence the leadership team, I am involved with? I came to this conclusion that I have to have faith and have to operate with an abundance of enthusiasm. They must see the passion in me. Like the scripture says with God all things are possible,
I think of pastor Aidan words in his message on Sunday, “Look up and start counting.” God says, Abraham, look up and count if you can. The principle or better still the promise here, as the commentator says, is beyond comprehension. It reminds me of eternity and vastness of the universe, can we as humans even relate to that. That’s why many are sceptical about the promises of God. It is just like me it is my doubt that is limiting my result.
2018 is on its way, what are you trusting God for if you are in the world what are your goals. Aidan was saying consider the number of stars in the universe, look up. Are you putting limitations on God’s blessing? Remeber Abrahams blessing is ours through Christ Jesus. The blessing is as massive as the universe. Listen to what Mark is saying with God all things are possible. Just have faith.
So, don’t limit your expectation in 2018 and remember this applies to all aspects of life.
“Lord, I thank you for Your blessing. I pray that we won’t limit Your blessing. In Jesus name, Amen.”
