“1, In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2 He existed in the beginning with God.  4 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.  5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.  14 – So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.’ – John 1:1-5,14
Do you ever feel that your life is too complex for God to understand? Remember, God created the entire universe, and nothing is too difficult for him. God created you; he is alive today, and his love is bigger than any problem you may face.
“The darkness can never extinguish it” means the darkness of evil never has and never will overcome God’s light. Jesus Christ is the Creator of life, and his life brings light to humankind. In his light, we see ourselves as we really are (sinners in need of a Savior). When we follow Jesus, the true Light, we can avoid walking blindly and falling into sin. He lights the path ahead of us so we can see how to live. He removes the darkness of sin from our lives. In what ways have you allowed the light of Christ to shine into your life? Let Christ guide your life, and you’ll never need to stumble in darkness. (Life Application Study Bible)
“for I am with you to protect and rescue you.” A couple of words from Jeremiah yesterday. “If you return to me,” says the Lord. Remember the theme of the last couple of days. Return to the Word of God, the Bible. Take more time out to study it. Don’t become like the young of this era that cant concentrate for longer than 47s, then flick to the next thing on offer. Most of it just pure entertainment nothing meaning full and lasting. Wisdom will come from study, which is definitely more prolonged than 47s, but meaningful.  So as I was explaining yesterday dress yourself with real understanding.
I have Quoted Romans a couple of times; Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
A couple of years ago I was a professional triathlete. At the time wanting to be the best I could be, I bought a Sports Motivational Program from an American Company SMI. An aspect of this program is to carry around affirmation cards. In other words a constant reminder of your goals long and short term.
These words “return to me,” reminds me of just that. Spend time in the Bible your own book of affirmation and guidance. Pastor Aidan words on Sunday ring in my ears. Outside the Word, your daily challenges will seem insurmountable. Take note what John is saying. The Word is God and remember what we have been saying,  with God all things are possible.
Take your wisdom from the Bible.
“Lord, I pray that Your word will be our affirmation and guide. Amen.”
