“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ” – Philippians 4:6
Imagine never worrying about anything! It seems like an impossibility; we all have worries on the job, in our homes, at school. But Paul’s advice is to turn our worries into prayers. Do you want to worry less? Then pray more! Whenever you start to worry, stop and pray. (Life Application Study Bible)
What an eventful week. A friend has was admitted to hospital spent a whole week there. Another friend has a run-in with the law. My daughter arrives home from China and is admitted to the hospital two days later with Phenomena. She was fine when she arrived. Another friend is facing financial ruin. Yesterday I said that God was always there right from the beginning of time. No matter what you did your sins would be forgiven.
My thoughts, however, has been what do you do when calamities are upon you and you seeking guidance. I was saying the last couple of days that you should spend time in the Word, the Bible. God’s word. Its almost as you need more.
I went to look for advice in the Bible. And the scripture above pops up. The message is very clear, Pray. I think of my situation, in sales from time to time things can be slow. Have I been clear to God about my expectation? No, we think that’s not necessary because God knows your heart. Utterly wrong everything you need to lay before the Lord. Be grateful for the blessings you have and be bold about your needs emotional or financial needs. Talk to God all the time. Never think that you can just pray and then do nothing. You still have to do your work diligently, do it in a way to glorify God. Be that person that shines.
Anxiety, just as sin will distance you from God. It will also remove your peace, break your spirit and drive you to give up. Praying will prevent all these things. I know many people that will testify to this. Here is a tool just use it. The key is doing, take action and pray.
Lord, I pray that I obey your instruction and that these wise words will reach the needy. In Jesus name, Amen.
Ps. Reach out to somebody today, you can make a difference.
