Who’s purpose

28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. – Romans 8:28
God works in “everything”—not just isolated incidents—for our good. This does not mean that all that happens to us is good. Evil is prevalent in our fallen world, but God is able to turn every circumstance around for our long-range good. Note that God is not working to make us happy, but to fulfill his purpose. Note also that this promise is not for everybody. It can be claimed only by those who love God and are called by him, that is, those the Holy Spirit convinces and enables to receive Christ. Such people have a new perspective, a new mind-set. They trust in God, not in life’s treasures; their security is in heaven, not on earth. Their faith in God does not waver in pain and persecution because they know God is with them.(Life Applications Study Bible)
I remember the disciples asking Jesus who is the greatest among them. Luke 9:47 He says the one that is the least is the greatest. In Mark 9.35 He says if you want to be the first you have to be the last and serve all.
These words impact me as well –  “love God and are called according to his purpose.”
A couple of days ago I accompanied a couple of brothers in Christ to pray for a family. I could not believe that I was in that house. If you asked me a couple of years ago to reach out to these type of people, I would tell you straight leave them to there own demise. I must add the compassion I felt for these people even surprised myself. I  have been born again, thank you, God.
As I read this scripture, it reminds of the moments praying for these people. Some knew God but have grown cold. Life is about choices. Here I am not judging I am just observing the situation. God says if we love Him good will come to us. As the commentator says it not always money and “life’s treasures.” It’s that peace that you receive when you believe.
The family was telling of Dad, who has cancer and is at his last. Dad was a Godly man but through drinking got led astray. The only way to overcome these worldly influences is to seek God in everything we do. Single-mindedly focused on God and His love. As I was saved and called by God to do His work, be single-mindedly focused on His purpose. It would be more difficult to stray then.
Yes, I can hear you say, I cant do that. You see all are born with talents and gifts. All we need is to establish where we fit in. Where would we add the most value to society? It’s up to me to encourage and guide people to find there gifting or talents. Even teach them how to use them. In doing this, you will be showered by God favour and blessing.
One of the siblings is a huge kid 6’2″ we asked why he does not play Rugby? He is blessed with a talent of big. Why not use it?
“Lord, I thank you for choosing me. May I stay in Your service. Amen.
