“No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:39 NLT
These verses contain one of the most comforting promises in all Scripture. Believers have always had to face hardships in many forms: persecution, illness, imprisonment, and even death. These sometimes cause them to fear that they have been abandoned by Christ. But Paul exclaims that it is impossible to be separated from Christ. His death for us is proof of his unconquerable love. Nothing can separate us from Christ’s constant presence with us. God tells us how great his love is so that we will feel totally secure in him. If we believe these overwhelming assurances, we will not be afraid. ( Life Applications Study Bible )
Nor height nor depth. Common astronomical terms used to refer to the high and low points of a star’s path; nothing in life’s path, from beginning to end, can separate us from Christ’s love. Possibly, Paul may intend to describe all of space from top to bottom. Nor anything else in all creation. In case anything or anyone might be left out, this covers everything but the Creator himself. ( John Mcarther )
If I read John’s commentary, it reminds of a project I did about the God Head, the Father Son and Holy Spirit. The debate went around creation. In my study, I discovered even the most intelligent scientist Steve Hawkins, cant disprove God’s hand in creation. I believe it’s all God’s work.
Lets for a moment consider the vastness of creation. Today scientist determines that the measured Universe is around 23 billion light years. A single light year measures 9.5 trillion kilometres. Can you even imagine that? My next question is, in what does the universe hang. Just too much to comprehend.
Pay attention to what Paul is saying nothing even that vastness can separate us from the love of God. Consider the words of the last two days; it seems to come together know. All we need is God’s love.
So I referred to the Holy Spirit, this is the presence of God the other commentator refers too. The Holy Spirit is that voice in the back of your head that says that’s no right. This explanation is for those that have no relationship with that Spirit. Believers will understand the power of that Spirit as we rely on its presence and power. Not a day goes by that I don’t rely on it.
I would like to remind you that it’s not knowledge but Faith that is the building blocks. Because through Faith we can move our mountains, even as small as a mustard seed.
So in conclusion, if you are bruised, hurt and tested, remember God loves you. Nothing in this world can separate you from the love of God.
“Lord. I thank you for Your love. I hate, I mean I love these reminders. I give thanks to my brothers and sisters in Christ, for correcting my path again. Amen.”
