“19  Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.  20 Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.” (1 John 3:19-20)
Many are afraid that they don’t love others as they should. They feel guilty because they think they are not doing enough to show proper love to Christ. Their consciences bother them. John has these people in mind in this letter. How do we escape the gnawing accusations of our consciences? Not by ignoring them or rationalizing our behaviour but by setting our hearts on God’s love. When we feel guilty, we should remind ourselves that God knows our motives as well as our actions. His voice of assurance is stronger than the accusing voice of our conscience. If we are in Christ, he will not condemn us (Romans 8:1; Hebrews 9:14-15). So if you are living for the Lord but feeling that you are not good enough, remind yourself that God is greater than your conscience. ( Life Applications Study Bible)
It is a harsh reminder that God knows everything. We don’t see the plan He has for us. He knows us that well that he knows every strand of hair on our head. Like the scripture says He knows everything.
In my time on this earth one thing, I learnt is that people love to justify their actions, myself included. My experience tells me it is to cover their guilt and it takes many forms. Yes, I am sure you know what I am talking about when I say, you feel condemnation. And how easy does that happen? The smallest of white lies and “Bang” there it is.
As the commentator suggests, afraid or that feeling of fear ads to our insecurities. That fear can be fear of failure or not meeting expectation. Sitting at a coffee shop waiting to meet someone all the negative self-talk. Instead of considering the person agreed to meet also has an interest or seeking opportunity so just go with it. The point I am trying to make is that opportunities present themselves daily embrace them with confidence. Rely on God and the Holy Spirit to guide you. Doing that will lead to right living.
You see, God, loved the world so much that he gave His Son as redemption for our sins. As I am writing a friend sends me a Quote by Steve Hawkins, ” If you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away. ” So remember God’s love is all around us, so consider Steve’s words, don’t throw it away. If we are in Christ, we will never feel condemned and remember God and His love, is way greater than all our insecurities. And remember God’s love is the basis of the love between man and woman.
Consider the title, “actoins”, everything in life is about doing. Just as the word “love” is a verb, in other words, an action. Just do it.
“Lord, I pray for you in my life always. To rely on You always. In Jesus name. Amen
