#working in you
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. (Philippians 2:13 NLT)
What do we do when we don’t feel like obeying? God has not left us alone in our struggles to do his will. He wants to come alongside us and be within us to help. God gives us the desire and the power to do what pleases him.The secret to a changed life is to submit to God’s control and let him work.Next time ask God to help you desire to do his will.
To be like Christ, we must train ourselves to think like Christ. To change our desires to be more like Christ’s, we need the power of the indwelling Spirit, the influence of faithful Christians, obedience to God’s Word (not just exposure to it), and sacrificial service.Often it is in doing God’s will that we gain the desire to do it (see 4:8-9). Do what he wants and trust him to change your desires. (Tyndale Study Bible)
I have a good friend that has been such an inspiration for me. He has renewed my faith, we all need that from time to time. That fire that burns in us when we are saved fades from time to time. It takes miracles that happen daily to rekindle that fire. Read the bold section again. That is what God asks us to do daily. I fall horribly short.
When I was pondering this scripture this thought came up immediately: I was just a witness to the working of God through the Holy Spirit again this week. It’s amazing. I feel I should say this again. The power of the Holy Spirit is insane. When Jesus died the Holy Spirit was released over the earth, and it is the Power of that Spirit that resurrected Jesus from the dead to Heaven. That is the power that is available to all of us. With God and the Holy Spirit, we can do all things. It is the power of that Spirit that can achieve anything; we just need faith. Remember the Trinity of the God Head, Father Son and the Holy Spirit.
Scripture says that all things are possible with God. With faith the size of a mustard seed, we can move mountains.
So let God work in you, let the Holy Spirit guide you, and give you the power to overcome all challenges. Trust God in all. Give him your whole heart.
“Lord I pray for your strength. Guide me in my daily choices. I thank you for loving me. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.”
