“In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬
When we are suffering, we often feel as though our pain will never end. Peter gave these faithful Christians a broader perspective. In comparison with eternity, their suffering would last only “a little while.” Some of Peter’s readers would be strengthened and delivered in their own lifetimes. Others would be released from their suffering through death. All of God’s faithful followers are assured of an eternal life with Christ, where there will be no suffering (Revelation 21:4).
I got home this evening to lovely aromas, a home cooked meal. We take these things for granted. Have you experienced suffering? I am sure you have. What form has your suffering taken? Have you ever gone to bed hungry? Have you ever lost a loved one?
Think of this for a bit. An aunt of mine in one year lost her husband, then her son and just 3 weeks ago her granddaughter. It’s insane and they are a close family. You see God called all of us to share his Glory through Jesus. My aunt is a Christian and she will suffer, but with faith in God he will restore, support and strengthen her. Most importantly, God loves all of us equally, saved or not. Trust me when I say this He will restore you. God will show you restoration and comfort, then, like I said yesterday, you must apply it.
God loves all and I mean all of us. That is why when we accept His Son as our savior, we are promised eternal life. That eternal life is going to be in heaven, can you believe that? Why because God loves us. The incredible peace that I have found in God is heaven already.
A couple of words come to mind as I write this. Love, compassion, care, learn, willingness, holy, humble and pure. There are many more if you apply your mind. Just like God delivers on His promise, we should each deliver on our promises, and that includes our promise to God.
Here is the thing. He will restore, support and strengthen you. From personal experience I can vouch for that. My final question: who in the world will do that for you, only our God?
So if you have suffered a little, put your faith in the only person you can fully rely on, our Lord and his amazing son Jesus.
“Brothers and Sisters in Christ, as the Church the body off Christ let us touch and change the world, to the glory off God. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.”
