May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ. (‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ NLT)‬‬‬
Beneath the surface of the routine of daily life, a fierce struggle among invisible spiritual powers is being waged. Our primary defence is a prayer that God will protect us from the evil one and that he will strengthen us. (See also comments on Ephesians 6:10-19 concerning our armour for spiritual warfare.) The following guidelines can help you prepare for and survive satanic attacks: (1) Take the threat of spiritual attack seriously; (2) pray for strength and help from God; (3) study the Bible to recognize Satan’s style and tactics; (4) memorize Scripture so it will be a source of help no matter where you are; (5) associate with those who speak the truth; and (6) practice what sound spiritual leaders teach you.(Tyndale Study Bible)
I am reading a book by Simon Ekin about Courage. He makes the opening statement, “We fear to enter the cave that holds our opportunity. “
Since I have been saved, I have faced many times where I was scared to declare my faith. The more you do it, the easier it becomes. You are practising your “courage muscle”.
Are people not accepting Jesus as their Savior for fear of condemnation? Where I am at the moment, there is a whole family that has accepted Jesus as their Savior. A family you would have least expected. It is so refreshing to see. I am still going to find out what their motivation was.
Simon says further in his book that to overcome fear, we should prepare. Just like athletes, business people and presenters prepare and exercise what you are fearful of.
Another thing I think is correct is that as believers we fear to fail, or falling short of the glory of God. I also think some people don’t just take the step to Salvation because of fear of failing.
You see, God loves us, He will never let us fail. In the scripture above are the tools and preparation to avoid failure. Take some time to ponder on it.
“Lord, I pray for fearless courage to declare You my Savior. May You touch people and give the courage to accept you as Savior. May You give us the courage to turn our fears into opportunity. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen. “
