“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”1 Timothy 4:8 NIV
Are you in shape both physically and spiritually? In our society, much emphasis is placed on physical fitness, but spiritual health (godliness) is even more important. Our physical health is susceptible to disease and injury, but faith can sustain us through any tragedy. To train ourselves to be godly, we must develop our faith by using our God-given abilities in the service of the church (see 4:14-16). Are you developing your spiritual muscles?(Tyndal Study Bible)
Are you in shape? I am not talking about the outer appearance. And just like the scripture says it’s not only the physical shape we are in, it’s the spiritual as well.
Think of this for a moment. How many people do you know that look good physically yet there many underlying issues with their health and fitness. No matter how you look it what you do physically, is what is important. How you train and what you eat is important. Not only how you look. Many out of shape people are the happiest. Not always, though. Spiritually they are failing.
So the same is for spiritual fitness. It is easier to look in shape spiritually. You can look like you in control, yet underlining there is a lot wrong. Like scripture asks are you training spiritually? The Bible is your handbook. Just apply what you read. Carefully listen to the promises, of the Bible, it takes care off today and the future. You implement the principles today it takes care of tomorrow. The right choices today will give you inner peace and greater promise in heaven.
Can you turn your back on that?
“Lord I thank you for daily revelation. And thank you for all the promise. In Jesus name. Amen.”
