“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”Psalm 27:4 NIV
By the “house of the Lord” and “his Temple,” David could be referring to the Tabernacle in Gibeon, to the sanctuary he had built to house the Ark of the Covenant, or to the Temple that his son Solomon was to build. David probably had the Temple in mind because he made many of the plans for it (1 Chronicles 22). David may also have used the word Temple to refer to the presence of the Lord. David’s greatest desire was to live in God’s presence each day of his life. Sadly, this is not the greatest desire of many who claim to be believers. What do you most desire? Do you look forward to being in the presence of the Lord?
Referring to the Tabernacle and then the Temple is interesting to me. Today the house of the Lord is the Church. That far back there weren’t churches as we know it now. At this point, David was waiting on a Temple to be built. The Birth of the Modern Church. Today the Church is our sanctuary. What we must not forget is we individuals are the body of the Church. So in essence, we are temples of God. That is why our emphasis should be purity. (Tyndall Study Bible)
One thing David did not have at that time was the Holy Spirit. Yes, he had Godly encounters, the difference is we can have daily contact with God because of the Holy Spirit. Now my question is it easier to seek the Lord in the past or today? My view, easier today than before because Jesus, who represent us in Heaven.
What is your greatest desire? The same as David’s? Daily as I am maturing as a believer that’s I all want to do. I want to be in the presence of God, where you experience true peace.
God is a perfect God; He is Almighty and a loving God. He promises eternal life in heaven if you accept Jesus as your personal saviour. Know to me that sounds all too perfect. Think of this for a moment imagine if we seek Him in everything we do on daily basis. Even seek Him in our workplace. Can you imagine the peace and prosperity? My suggestion is to make every place in your world God’s sanctuary.
“Lord, I seek you daily. Make my workplace a sanctuary. I give thanks for all my blessing. Amen.”
