“A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.”Proverbs 15:1 NLT
Have you ever tried to argue in a whisper? It is equally hard to argue with someone who insists on answering softly or gently. On the other hand, a rising voice and harsh words almost always trigger an angry response. To turn away wrath and seek peace, choose quiet, gentle words.(Tyndal Study Bible)
A Couple of years ago with my company enroled in a programme, Management through People skills. The Question is can you teach an old dog new tricks. I firmly believe you can. All you need is the desire to learn. Well, I can hear you say, there is the challenge right there.
I think there is the difference between successful people and others. Others that never amount to much. Nothing said here is something you did not hear at some time or other. The difference I believe is the appetite for successful people to learn. They seem to have an open mind about things. You see failure is when you give up trying. So take the time and read the scripture again. You have to make a choice here and follow the advice of scripture. It’s up you.
Let me go back a little during that training we learnt. In an interaction with another person, you are 50% responsible for their behaviour. In other words, if you lose your temper with them. There is a 50 % chance that they will lose their temper as well. Not a win-win situation. So follow the advice of scripture and your communication will be far better. It takes a choice, and the result will be better with that choice.
We were discussing humility and meekness at Bible school this evening. Peace follows these traits around. You know why this comes to mind. Gentle answers, reminds about humility and meekness, and that’s the better way, and peace will follow you around. Again I am amazed at the teachings of the Bible.
All you have to ask yourself do you want to learn? It’s up to you.
“Lord I thank you for daily teaching. All the glory to You Lord. Amen.”
