“For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.”Psalm 33:4-5 NIV
All God’s words are true and trustworthy—they can be trusted. The Bible is reliable because, unlike people, God does not lie, forget, change his words, or leave his promises unfulfilled. We can trust the Bible because it contains the words of a holy, trustworthy, and unchangeable God. (Tyndale Study Bible)
The world is full of His unfailing Love – “value and prize above all other things.” Remember from yesterday this was the meaning of agape love. These words deeply move me.
When David was healed from illness, he then wrote the 32nd and 33 rd Psalm. It is a penitential Psalm, which means that David was repenting of his sin. He was also praising God for forgiveness and healing.
Who can we rely on today? We live in a society where disappointment and deceit are the order of the day. Deceit is in our faces daily. As people, we get despondent and give up on society. How many times have you heard someone say, “I am just going to stay single because there is just nothing worthwhile out there.” The reason for this is a whole other story. In my opinion, it stems from deceit.
Pay attention to what David is saying. This Psalm was written roughly about 1000 BC. That’s a very long time ago. Back then David already knew that one could rely on God. Today we have the privilege of the Bible and all God’s instruction.(There was no Bible as we know it today.) Do we have an excuse, no we don’t. And just like David is saying we can rely on the promises of God.
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”John 8:31-32
The Word that Jesus was referring to here is the Word of God – The Bible. The truth and promises of the Bible will set you “free.” Need one say more?
Adopt and apply these, will the world be full of deceit?
“Lord I pray we pay attention to Your Word as far back as Adam and Eve. The world will be a better place. In Jesus name. Amen.”
