Love

“If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.”‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬
‭‭In chapter 12, Paul gave evidence of the Corinthians’ lack of love in the utilization of spiritual gifts; Chapter 13 defines real love, and Chapter 14 shows how love works. Love is more important than all the spiritual gifts exercised in the church body. Great faith, acts of dedication or sacrifice, and miracle-working power produce very little without love. Love makes our actions and gifts useful. Although people have different gifts, love is available to everyone.
What a fitting way to end the Year, what is God plan for us this year? Then the key element in everything we do is “Love.”
The Bible commands us to Love the Lord our God with all our heart. Second, and as important to Love our neighbours as we Love ourselves. These two commands aren’t so easy to achieve. I know before I was born again, it was not part of my makeup.
What I do remember was when you receive something from someone with an evil heart, it’s like you don’t want it. Has that ever happened to you.? It’s like someone doing something for you with a bad heart. You want to say don’t bother. Yes, you know what I am talking off.
The Bible is very clear you can do many good things, but if you don’t do it with love it means nothing. You will receive no recognition from God. I remember leading a Bible study group for street people and drug addicts, some infected with HIV. I would normally have done that but without compassion. I had no time for losers like that. God put them in my path because only when I started loving without condition, did the results follow. All the Glory to God.
Just as the scripture says without Love, we are nothing. We can apply this principle to our daily tasks as well. Results will follow: I can assure you.
“Lord I pray to love others unconditionally. In Jesus name. Amen.”

What are your plans

#whatareyourplans“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We’re all encouraged by a leader who stirs us to move ahead, someone who believes we can do the task he has given and who will be with us all the way. God is that kind of leader. He knows the future, and his plans for us are good and full of hope. As long as God, who knows the future, provides our agenda and goes with us as we fulfil his mission, we can have boundless hope. This does not mean that we will be spared pain, suffering, or hardship, but that God will see us through to a glorious conclusion.
From a young age, we seek recognition. It starts with our parents followed with our teachers and leaders at the schools we attend. We always want approval and recognition from our friends and peers.
What amazed me is when I joined the Church I noticed how little credit is passed on. I wondered about it for a long time. I came to the realization that Christians are not to seek recognition in the world. All our reward is from God. And it’s not always instant and tangible. Because it can come in the form of inner peace.
In the Church when you have done your bit unconditionally then recognition follows. Take our Head Pastor, he built the Church from 6 people in his house to 3000 members and 1000 persons in attendance on a Sunday morning. His recognition before God must be enormous. I know what you are saying that’s not so difficult. Why don’t you have a go at it?
We become discouraged quickly. Read the scripture above. For I know the plans I have for you. Plans for good not for disaster. To you the believer and nonbeliever my advice is. Never stop been committed to what you are doing, you never know when your breakthrough is going to be. It is true in everything you do. It does not only count for work.
So be 100 % committed this year, 2019 because this could be the year God has chosen for you.
Plans for good!
“Lord I pray for Faith in your plans. I pray that we never give up. In Jesus name. Amen.

Be strong

“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:58‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Paul says that because of the resurrection, nothing we do is useless. Sometimes we become apathetic about serving the Lord or hesitate to do good because we don’t see any results. Knowing that Christ has won the ultimate victory should affect the way we live right now. Don’t let discouragement over an apparent lack of results keep you from doing the work of the Lord enthusiastically as you have opportunity, knowing that your work will have eternal results. (Tyndal Study Bible)‭In the world today, everything is instant. We all seek instant gratification. We all have deadlines to meet. If we meet these deadlines gratification follows. These are instant. With God, it’s not always the same. The reward does not follow immediately. In some cases it does, but mostly it takes time. God wishes to test your obedience and perseverance.
Firstly we are reminded by the commentator that walking with God promises lasting results, eternal life in heaven. So everything we do is rewarded. I know it’s not something you can touch and feel.
Secondly, we are rewarded in the form of Blessings. Which come in different forms, sometimes it’s not money it’s just inner peace. Sitting outside on the patio, a glorious morning, and meditating on God’s word,  what a blessing. My daughter passed her final year of school, a blessing. Some people in the world don’t get the opportunity of going to school. We just take it for granted. So many blessings, take the time to consider them.
One of the richest Blessings is God’s word, the Bible. All we need for daily inspiration. Read the scripture again.
* Be strong and immovable* Work enthusiastically.* Nothing you do is useless.
All this we must do for the Lord. Remember what scripture said a couple of days ago, “work willingly as to Glorify God.” (Col 3;23) Nothing we do will go unseen.
“Work enthusiastically for the Lord.”
“Lord my prayer is for me to be for You only. Amen.”

I am with you

#iamwithyou“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand” Isaiah‬ ‭41:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬
God chose Israel through Abraham because he wanted to, not because the people deserved it (Deuteronomy 7:6-8; 9:4-6). Although God chose the Israelites to represent him to the world, they failed to do this; so God punished them and sent them into captivity. Now all believers are God’s chosen people, and all share the responsibility of representing him to the world. One day God will bring all his faithful people together. We need not fear because (1) God is with us (“I am with you”); (2) God has established a relationship with us (“I am your God”); and (3) God gives us assurance of his strength, help, and victory over sin and death. Are you aware of all the ways God has helped you? (Tyndal Study Bible)
It is critical for all that read this understands that we are all God’s chosen people. There is a differential between believers and non-believers. Believers being God’s chosen people. You can easily become one those selected because we are born with a choice.  Are you one of God’s chosen people?
An important fact is God loves all people in the world. And I mean that anyone in the world, no matter how much you have sinned. Even murderers. To be chosen, all you have to do is repent and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. You are immediately one of the chosen people.
Many of us struggle with motivation, comfort, peace and recognition.Read Isaiah carefully, so many words of encouragement.* Don’t be afraid.* I am with you* Don’t be discouraged* I am your God* I will strengthen you.* I will help you* I will hold you up.
I can imagine why we will struggle to head to these words because it does not seem tangible. No person is lecturing us; what we should be doing we can’t touch and feel these words.
That is why the Bible speaks about faith because Christians are to walk by faith. The Bible talks about faith the size of a mustard seed that’s all we need. Then these promises will become tangible. So if we walk by faith, all will be revealed.
“Don’t be discouraged I am with you.”
Lord, I pray for Faith. Thank you for all Your promises. In Jesus name. Amen.”

Knowledge

#knowledge“Yes, joyful are those who live like this! Joyful indeed are those whose God is the LORD.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭144:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬
All people like to be happy—to be exhilarated with joy, to feel good, and to be on top of everything. There’s nothing wrong with that. God wants joyous, excited, happy, and uplifted people. The problem lies in how happiness is generated. Some people think they’ll find it in a liquor bottle or a narcotic. But neither of those is the Christian’s source of joy.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Terrence, are you going to lecture me on the evils of alcohol?  One study I found http://www.alcohol.co.za/statistics.htm
Take the time and read the study. Knowledge is power. I am reading this book by John Bevere – Under Cover. I am in the second chapter. There are many revelations. It was a gift, and it’s speaking to me personally. I am going to say this nothing happens by accident.
I would like to share this with you. Ignorance causes deception. And deception is the greatest cause of sin and disobedience. It goes as far back as Adam and Eve; the Serpent deceived Eve.
The next question are you a hearer or doer of the word? How many times have we been to an impressive sermon or teaching, but we fail to apply it to our lives? I am speaking to myself here. A couple of months ago I went to a teaching by Dr Dave Martin; I bought his program and did nothing with it. ” Ignorance” So if you are not applying what you learnt you are robbed and deceived. Take every opportunity to learn.
Ignorance causes deception – all the encouragement and promise is in the Word. What we can’t be is a hearer of the word; we have to be doers. I go back to the question above; Wanna be happy? The answer is right there in Psalm 37;4 NLT – “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.”
So take delight in the Lord by empowering yourself with the word, the Bible.
” Lord I pray for revelation. Let me delight in the Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.”

Willingly

#willingly“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭NLT
Since the Creation, God has given us work to do. If we could regard our work as an act of worship or service to God, such an attitude would take some of the drudgery and boredom out of it. We could work without complaining or resentment if we treated our job problems as the cost of discipleship. (Tyndale study Bible)
The day Adam and Eve sinned is when we were cursed and condemned to earn our fruits from the sweat of our brow. Yes, as far back as that we were doomed to work for a living. So in short if we want to get ahead in life, we have to work. What comes to mind is have you ever met a successful person; yes you have. They all work extremely hard and diligently. Think of those successful Churches in the world all their leaders and Pastors are extremely hard working.
Ya, I know you are saying I have heard this all before. You hearing is one thing, doing is the important thing. So many of us know what to do but don’t just do it. This principle applies to all things in life, not only work.
I ask you how are you going to get ahead in life? Ponder on that question I don’t think you need me to answer it.
I have entered a new phase in my life; firstly I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior; secondly, I have embarked on a new career. Both these are entirely different to how and what I was before. To be successful at either, it takes hard work and diligence. The spiritual reward will come from hours spent in God’s Word the Bible. Doing nothing will not get a result. Rome was not built in one day. What to do at work I think we all know that we should just do it.
“If we treated our job problems as the cost of discipleship.” Think of these words. In other words, do things to glorify God. These words are a real revelation treat everything in life in this way. Success will follow.
“Lord I pray for diligence in everything I do, to glorify You. In Jesus name. Amen.”

Choices

#choices
25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbours the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. 26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.”Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭25‬ – 27 NLT)
Lying to each other disrupts unity by creating conflicts and destroying trust. It tears down relationships and leads to open warfare in a church.
The Bible doesn’t tell us that we shouldn’t feel angry, but it points out that it is essential to handle our anger correctly. If vented thoughtlessly, anger can hurt others and destroy relationships. If bottled up inside, it can cause us to become bitter and destroy us from within. Paul tells us to deal with our anger immediately in a way that builds relationships rather than destroys them. If we nurse our anger, we will give the devil an opportunity to divide us. Are you angry with someone right now? What can you do to resolve your differences? Don’t let the day end before you begin to work on mending your relationship. (Tyndal Study Bible)
I think of this principle that Boxers apply. The moment you lose your temper in a boxing match you lost the fight.
I can relate many stories of losing my temper, right at that moment you lose the respect of people around you. You can’t think straight, and you make the wrong decisions. How many times have we spoken about correct choices? Getting angry is certainly not the right choice.
Have you said this before? It’s not me he/she angered first. A couple of years ago I went through management training. The Title of the course was “Management through people skills.” The most important thing I learned during this program was, in any interaction or communication, you are 50% responsible for the other person’s behaviour. So if the other party loses their temper, you are partly to blame for it. They are not alone in it; you have to take some responsibility. The correct choices and words come into play again.
It is just like the choice of telling lies. It is so easy to say that little white lie. We think it smooths things over, but it does not. Just like scripture says it causes damage. When you are caught out lying the people affected are angry. There the circle starts again, by making the correct choices you can prevent all the bad. So don’t give a foothold to the devil.
“Lord I pray for correct choices. Holy Spirit guide me. In Jesus name. Amen.”
